Library

The library of the Ukrainian Humanities Institute is an important component of the institute’s educational and research infrastructure. It provides students, teachers and researchers with access to educational, scientific and reference resources necessary for the implementation of educational programs, research and professional development.

Library users have free and free access to printed collections, electronic resources, an institutional repository, international scientific databases, and specialized research software.

The library collection is formed taking into account the needs of educational programs and disciplines. The collection is acquired on the basis of the discipline curricula, recommendations of the departmental teachers and student requests.

How to find a book in the library?

The search for books, educational and scientific literature is carried out through the electronic catalog of the UGI library.

In the catalog, you can find literature by author, title, or subject and check the availability of copies in the library’s collection.

Students and faculty of the Institute have access to scientific journals and books from leading international publishers through the Research4Life portal, including resources from Elsevier, Springer Nature, John Wiley & Sons, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, Sage Publications, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, and others.

The portal is accessible via https://portal.research4life.org/.

On the campus local network, authorization is automatic after clicking the Login button.

In the local network of the institute, to get full access to Scopus, click on the house symbol in the top menu of the site, then Check access and select Research4Life.

In the library’s reading room, one of the computers is equipped with licensed Accordance Bible Software, which is used for biblical, theological, and philological research.

This resource contains the original texts of the Bible (NA28, BHS, LXX), numerous translations of the Holy Scriptures, biblical commentaries, Greek and Hebrew lexicons, biblical dictionaries, reference books, and archaeological materials.

The library of the Ukrainian Humanities Institute includes two main rooms.

The 136 m² library collection room houses the bulk of the printed materials, as well as librarians’ workstations with computers and a scanner for processing library materials.

The 60 m² reading room is designed for students and teachers to work with library and electronic resources. It has three shared computers with access to the electronic catalog and international scientific resources, a scanner, a large display for educational work, a whiteboard, and workstations for students.

An offline printing terminal is installed in front of the library GoPrintterminal, which allows students to print educational materials.

The library provides an opportunity for distance learning students to borrow books by correspondence.

Part-time students can receive the necessary literature for their studies in accordance with the rules for using the library, as defined in the Regulations on the Library of the Ukrainian Humanities Institute.

The library service for students and teachers is provided by a team of librarians, meet them on the staff page.

The library of the Ukrainian Humanities Institute is an institutional member of the European branch of the international organization Association of Seventh-day Adventist Librarians (ASDAL).

ASDAL Europe unites libraries of Adventist educational institutions in Europe and promotes professional development of librarians, cooperation between libraries and the introduction of modern information resources.

The staff of the Institute’s library also has individual membership in ASDAL.
