UAСHE needs support for the scientific activities of its faculty

Dear friends, UAСHE needs support for the scientific activities of its faculty. Since the institution does not currently have sufficient funds, it makes it difficult for us to continue our work. At the moment we have 15 Adventist postgraduate students who are dedicated to Adventist science and education in Ukraine. Seven of them are planning to defend their dissertations in the current 2022-23 academic year. Each postgraduate student studies for 4 years in a paid postgraduate school. In addition to the text of the dissertation research, at least 5 articles must be published and 5 conferences must be attended. There are also costs during the thesis defense.

Also, UACHE has 4 doctoral students. The requirements for doctoral students are as follows: 20 profile articles, 6 publications Scopus or Web of Science, participation in 15 conferences with publications of theses.

For each postgraduate and doctoral student, it is necessary to have:

·  relevant publications, each costing on average about $60.

·  articles in scientific journals that are included in the scientometric databases Scopus or Web of Science (this is a prerequisite under Ukrainian law). Average cost per publication is $200.

·  participation in conferences with the publication of abstracts. The average cost per participation is $20.

The total cost of publications per year for all postgraduate and doctoral students is $5,300. And the cost of pre–defense publications is $6,870.

Postgraduate and doctoral students also have to pay for their studies (on average $500 per year for a postgraduate student, and up to $3,000 for a doctoral student). Defending dissertations is also a one-time fee, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.

Teachers are also required by international accreditation commission to receive training abroad, professional development, including English language training.

In the context that now there are many grants from various organizations and governments of different countries for Ukrainian scientists, can we give an appropriate request for Adventist universities around the world, whether they have such proposals for our Adventist scholars. Perhaps some universities cooperate with scientific journals, which could give the opportunity to make a free publication for our teachers.

The cost of the defense for postgraduate and doctoral students this year will be $20250.

The current year’s tuition for postgraduate and doctoral students is $39050. For the entire period of study of current graduate students tuition will be $61740.
