Memorial plaque in honor of Yuriy Chabakh unveiled in Bucha

A memorial plaque in honor of Yuriy Chabakh, a graduate of the Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute, was unveiled at the Bucha Lyceum No. 9. Olga Chabakh, Yuriy’s mother, is the head of the UGI library.

About a hundred people came to support Yuriy’s parents, relatives and friends. The event was also attended by representatives of the UGI administration and students. The student choir performed several pieces of music.

Since childhood, Yuriy grew up with a sense of justice and always stood up for the weak. After the Revolution of Dignity, in which he took an active part, he applied to the newly formed National Police of Ukraine, was promoted to the rank of captain, and became a criminal investigation officer at the Bucha District Police Department. Yuriy’s colleagues have always treated him with respect and honor, and have always seen in him strength, knowledge, professionalism, and camaraderie.

After the full-scale invasion and occupation of Bucha, Yuriy and his colleagues did their best to help people evacuate, dismantle the rubble of houses, and help others at great personal risk.

He was killed by the enemy while saving lives on March 5, 2022. By a decree of the President of Ukraine, Captain Yuriy Chabakh was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the III class.

We remember and will continue to remember, eternal memory to those who gave their lives for us!
